WELCOME
Hello,
My name is Emily Spencer and I am 14 years old. In 2010, I was not old enough to be on Facebook, so I put this web site together so that family, friends, and acquaintances could follow my progress and adventures with my horses. I now have a Facebook account that you can also view. Just select the image above, and don’t forget to log in.
Next to my family, horses are my first love. As of April 2013, I have completed 12 years of riding full sized horses on my own. I have ridden over eighty different horses in that time, from green broke to Grand Prix level, and several over 17hh tall to a 18hh Cleveland Bay - also a couple of ponies too!
Since I was 8 years old, for 4-H I have competed in Western Games, English & Western Performance, Dressage, and Jumping and for 2 years was on an equestrian drill team. In addition, I competed in Jr. & PeeWee Rodeos, and WSH “B” Level Performance Show Eventing. I have been jumping horses on and off for about 4 years with WSH as well as 4-H, thought last season I had to take off entirely because of an early training injury. In April of 2011, I started learning Dressage and have shown in Dressage to 3rd level for WSH, 2nd level for INDA and USDF, and 1st level for 4-H. I have also participated in several Pony Club activities in the last 3+ years. In May 2013, I am hoping to compete in my first USEA 3 Day Event. My goal is to one day be on the US Olympic Equestrian Team.
I am currently creating a whole new web site where goods & services can be offered, and where there will be opportunities for sponsorships & donations. I plan to have a members area and for the site to be mobile friendly. It is taking longer than originally planned. School, chores, riding up to six horses a day, and now show season, take most of my time. I am hoping once school is out for summer, I will be more focused on getting the new site up. I invite you to visit my web site often to learn more. Your prayers & support are warmly & graciously appreciated.
God Bless You!
Emily

2013 Highlights!
January 1: We moved CoCo over to Spokane Sport Horse Farm. Sadly, I left A&R Stables. I will miss everyone, both people and horses. But I am looking forward to a new adventure at Spokane Sport Horse Farm.
January 7: I began taking weekly Dressage lessons at Spokane Sport Horse Farm from Mary Richmond Brown. Mary is a USDF "L" judge.
January 31 - February 4th: We went off to Sally Parks Equestrian Center to pick up my new horse, Indy! I did 5 days of jump training on Indy with Sally and on 2 of her horses; one a 17.2hh Dutch Warmblood, the other a 14hh Welsh Cob. I also audited a 2 day clinic with Jeff Cook while there and ended up working for him in the arena both days.
February 15: I started taking weekly jump lessons at Westar from Karen O'Neal. Karen is a USEA Top 50 ranked Eventer. I have taken clinics from her at Deep Creek Farm and Spokane Sport Horse Farm over the last 3 years and really like her teaching style.
March 4 - 5: Liz Tukey Clinic at Spokane Sport Horse Farm.
February 16 - 17: Jan Ebeling Clinic at Liberty Grove Farm; audited with Mary Brown.
March 15 - 17: Captain Mark Phillips Clinic at Tulipsprings, which is located outside of Kennewick, Washington.
April 5 - 7: Sue Sherry Clinic at A&R Stables in Mead, near Mt. Spokane.
April 8 - 9: Liz Tukey Clinic at Spokane Sport Horse Farms. Liz was extremely helpful during this clinic, teaching me some new ways to develop the form I was looking for. She gave my group and me some instructions such as, going on a 20 meter to 10 meter circle, while keeping the exact same distance from one another. I found this to be rather difficult with Indy, as all three of the other horses in our group were ponies and Indy is 16.2hh. While on our circle and keeping the distances, we were asked to lengthen and shorten our strides, over bend and counter bend, and leg-yield inwards and outwards. The second day was jumping. We practiced over a double bounce, and later moved up to the vertical oxer. Liz had us go into the oxer very slowly, almost a jog, and hop over it with the horse rounding his/her back over the fence. As we did so, she began to widen the fence, until it was near 3ft wide and about 2’9” high. One of the girls in my group was on a pony jumping the same fence I was on my Indy. I was very impressed at how much Liz was helping both of our horses/ponies.
April 20: Vaulting Clinic at Spokane Sport Horse Farm with Tammy. I have done a little vaulting before. However, this was the first time I stood up on the back of a moving horse - a big guy too!
April 28: 4-H Jump Pre-Qualifier at Busy Bee Ranch, in Airway Heights. Indy and I qualified! Now we can compete at all of the levels (not that we will do ALL of them) for 4-H jumping!!! I was hoping we could qualify for 4-H state fair in Puyallup in jumping this year too, but they no longer offer jumping! ):
April 29: Schooled Cross Country Jumps at Deep Creek Farm, in Medical Lake. We stayed Sunday night at Busy Bee and then at noon on Monday, after dad had finished work and I school, we went to Deep Creek, which is close to Busy Bee. Indy & I had a great time. There are lots of pictures posted on my fb page.
